Erin Fennessy 1st Year Trainee - Audiology

Erin Fennessy is a third year Doctor of Audiology student at the University of Pittsburgh.  She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science and Disorders and a certificate in American Sign Language in the spring of 2015.  During her undergraduate education, Erin interned with the Office of Disability Resources and Services, which allowed her to have a unique perspective on disability within the college environment.  She also was heavily involved with leadership activities during her undergraduate education, including attending several leadership seminars held at the University of Pittsburgh while holding leadership positions on campus. One of her favorite leadership positions was being a First Year Mentor through the Office of Student Affairs, a position aimed at helping first year students acclimate to the transition to college.  During her graduate education, Erin has spent a great deal of time working with children and their families through both clinical placements and serving as a nanny.  Her future careers goals include continuing clinical work in pediatric patient care. 

Erin’s areas of interest in audiology include pediatric diagnostics, amplification, and cochlear implants.  She has recently completed clinical rotations at UMPC Children’s Hospital, the Western PA School for the Deaf, and the DePaul School for Hearing and Speech.  Erin will be completing her fourth year audiology externship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for the 2018-2019 year. 

Through her LEND training, Erin is very excited to learn how to work more successfully on an interdisciplinary team, and how to better serve pediatric patients and their families.  She is also very eager to share her passion for audiology with her peers, and learn more about all the disciplines represented in the current LEND class and faculty.
