AAIDD Conference 2013

LEND participated in the 137th AAIDD Annual Meeting, Race to Catch the Future, on June 4-5, 2013 at the Wyndham Grand in Downtown Pittsburgh.  This conference was meant to provide researchers, clinicians, practitioners, educators, policymakers, local, state and federal agencies, and advocates with new knowledge about the research, practices, and policy initiative that could be useful to our work.  We were happy to learn about so many different resources and research initiative going on nationally and internationally, as well as represent the LEND program on a broad level.  We had the opportunity to meet representatives from various programs coming from many countries, including Australia and Saudi Arabia!

LEND faculty, Dori Ortman, also gave a presentation about UCP Kids (Unique Community Programs for Kids)  called "A View from the Field: Innovative Programming Toward Community Inclusion".  This talk focused on preparing youth with disabilities for their future using several innovative programs.

Community collaborations are important to LEND. Please visit the Training and Resources pages for more information.
