- Darker stained areas combined with rough chalkiness on tooth surface

- Areas of rough chalkiness

- This stage, called the “White Spots” stage, can be reversed.
Early Caries - Counseling for ECC
Health professionals should discuss with caregivers:
- Referral to a dentist while treatment can be simple, such as fluoride varnish
- Reduce sugar content and carbonated drinks in the diet
- Discontinue bottles and/or sippy cups
- Regular tooth brushing with fluoridated toothpaste twice daily
